Russian-Trained Piano Pedagogue

Welcome...

I’m so glad you’re here — and thank you for your visit.

My teaching is rooted in the rich tradition of Russian piano pedagogy, where technique and musical expression are developed together from the very beginning. This approach emphasizes beautiful tone production, relaxed yet disciplined hand position, attentive listening, and deep emotional connection to the music. Students are taught not simply to play notes, but to shape phrases, understand structure, and communicate meaning.

In the Russian school, foundations matter. We cultivate strong technical habits, refined touch, and artistic sensitivity early on, building musicianship that lasts a lifetime. Concentration, focus, and consistent practice are essential — but so is joy. Music has a remarkable ability to bring order to the chaos around us, and in that process, it develops confidence, patience, and resilience in young minds.

My students benefit from the blending of cultures — honoring the depth and rigor of classical European tradition while engaging the curiosity and creativity of today’s learners. With a strong grounding in classical music history, I help students understand not only how to play a piece, but why it was written, who composed it, and the world from which it emerged.

Our lessons are engaging, focused, and thoughtfully structured. Expectations are clear, standards are high, and students genuinely enjoy the process. Parents consistently recognize the growth — not only in technical ability and musicality, but in maturity and self-discipline.

Lessons are held in-studio in the Dobson/Germann area of Chandler, Arizona. If you’re visiting on a mobile device, feel free to call or leave a message — or send a note below.

I look forward to making music together.

The Healing Power of Piano

I'm honored to have my story of how piano miraculously helped me recover from a stroke included in 88 MORE Ways Music Can Change Your Life which was released on New Year's Day 2021.

"88 MORE Ways" features over 100 new inspirational music stories and quotes by musicians and non-musicians from around the world. Instinctively, we all know the power of music, but sometimes we can't help taking it for granted.

"I'd like to thank the parents! I'm truly grateful for the opportunity to get to know your children and to work with them each and every week. They continue to amaze me with their intelligence, energy and sense of humor. Thank you for recognizing the value of music in the life of a child. Thank you for the time you invest in supporting your child at home. And, thank you for including me as a part of your child's musical education." ~ Luba
